Further in the war over the proposed floating trailer park installation in the Victoria Harbour, an application for Judicial Review of the decisions has been filed in Federal Court of Canada. Applicants, the Dogwood Initiative and Tim Houlihan, claim the Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities has erred in law and in jurisdiction by granting Federal approval for the project to proceed. The Minister of the Fisheries and Oceans and Community Marine Concepts, Inc are also named in the request for Judicial Review.

Well the plot thickens in the case of WAM development's attempt to have their plans to build a mega marina in the already overcrowded Victora harbour approved. An article was published in the Globe and Mail by Mark Hume called, "Unease over political ties taking the wind out of proposed marina's sails" has a LOT to say about further political ties of Community Marine Concepts and WAM Development.

The following letter was sent on behalf of the 400 members of the South Island Sea Kayak Association to Navigable Waters Protection Division and details difficulties with the proposed harbour development proposal. Note the addresses and email of the persons who may have an influence on this project at the conclusion of the letter.

The Victoria Harbour International Marina development project is still alive and well according to a recent article (CLICK here for a copy) published October 18th in the Globe and Mail. The development proposed by WAM Development Group is slated for construction in 2010 and aims at creating a marina for the moorage of up to 52 large yachts.  The project has considerable political momentum and while the public have seemingly forgotten about the proposed project, the planning has been growing roots like a Garry Oak and the development is firmly established.
